Valencia Oranges give this American Pale Ale its sweet, floral nose that opens up to a citrusy, malty ale that’s nicely balanced with mild hoppiness. Refreshing and drinkable, Orange Grove pours bright amber.
Port Brewing: Summer Ale
A perfumey bouquet off the nose, this beer tastes as hoppy as it smells. If you’re a hop-head, this light bodied ale that pours fizzy straw yellow will do the trick.
Ballast Point Brewing Company: Longfin Lager
Flavorful grains and grassy notes make this lager more dynamic than most; pours light golden, and is a refreshing session (4.6% ABV) beer with light hops and spice.
The craft of beer and food have been Neighborhood’s focus
since opening in August, 2007. Successful execution of a craft requires skill, and
passion; our 27 taps of artisanal beer, and our distinctive menu, embody the respect
we have for originality, and the individual minds powering these goods.
Starting Saturday, August 22nd Neighborhood will continue the
tradition of celebrating thoughtfully crafted beverages by introducing: Lost
Cocktails. By doing so, we hope to emphasize, and show our respect for, the
true art of a well-crafted cocktail.
We believe in keeping things simple, so our menu will
feature only 2 craft cocktails—done right. We are excited to brew our own
Ginger Beer, use only the finest craft distillery liquors available, plus the
juice of organic fruits. No detail overlooked, our ice is made in house as
well; boiling water before freezing creates crystal clear cubes that don’t
detract from the cocktail’s consistency, and won’t dilute its flavors.
Rye Mule
A whiskey twist on the original Moscow Mule. Sazerac
Rye Whisky, lime, and Ginger Beer.
The Elderflower Collins
A light floral citrus combination that is subtly sweet and
refreshing. Gin, lime juice, Angostura Bitters and Ginger Beer.
Robust citrus and hops flavors are balanced out with just the right sweet, malty notes. Panzer is a 9.5% ABV imperial pilsner, pouring dark golden into the glass. Usually found in bottles, we’re happy to have a keg on right now.
Mad River Brewing Company: The Mad Belgian
Mad River Brewing Company’s latest seasonal release (part of their artisanal reserve series), is a 6.5% ABV Belgian golden ale. Summer in a glass, this beer pours golden with complex honey and yeasty flavors; its hops are mild but don’t disappoint the medium bodied ale that’s crisp and dry.
Stone 13th Anniversary Ale
To mark Stone’s 13th Anniversary, we’ve been celebrating throughout the month with several of their crafts. This Friday we’ll have Stone 13th Anniversary Ale (9.5% ABV) on tap. This ale is the brewery’s first imperial/double red style IPA, has more hops than any other Stone brew’s recipe, and is double dry-hopped as well. The ale pours red and starts hoppy with citrus and pine. The brew ends as robust as it starts with roasty caramel malts, and a dose of bitterness.
It's hard to believe that Stone Brewing Company will celebrate its 13th Anniversary this coming weekend. Seems like just yesterday when the brewery operated out of its small San Marcos business park location. Today, Stone's operation has grown far beyond brewing; besides hosting a range of monthly craft-beer related events, including festivals, and food pairings at the World Bistro and Gardens, the compaany is responsible for distributing a LOT of the craft beer you drink at local establishments, and purchase at liquor stores.
Stone Brewing's 13th anniversary at California State University, San Marcos is a celebration of craft beer, for the greater good of humanity. Event proceeds go to local non-profits who will continue to serve our community. Over 40 international breweries will feature their beers for a day of celebrating craft beer, and philanthropy. We're in.
There are two sessions for this festival, so make time whether its earlier in the day or later. Check Stone's website for details.
We did an event with Yelp not too long ago and ordered a couple cases of beer we don't normally carry. In the interest of promoting local craft beer, we'll be Tweeting a time next week when you can come in and drink these beers at cost (follow us on Twitter now if you aren't already). The ABC dictates that sales of beer under cost is illegal, so we're selling these Stone Ruination bombers and Alesmith Horny Devil (750ml bottles) as low as we can go. See you next week.
