Utopias: The only 27%abv beer on the market
December 10, 2009
Samuel Adams produces the strongest beer on the market, Utopias, at 27%abv. Although it's banned in 13 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia,
Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South
Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Washington) because its alcohol content exceeds the limit for beer, we've got a supply at Neighborhood.
Only 10,000 bottles were released of Utopias, which ages for 15 years in scotch whiskey barrels, and sherry casks at Boston Beer Company. Utopias tastes like bourbon, or even cognac, with vanilla, maple and fruit flavors (prunes and dates).
Drink this rare beer while we have it, and don't drive home.
